SCHOOLS COACHING
Established since 2002 our schools coaching programme now offers a wide range of activities to cater for the growing needs of every school:
-
Personal development programmes
-
Nationally accredited awards, OCN, ASDAN.
Working closely within the guidelines of the National Curriculum,
or adapted to meet the specific needs of every school our programmes are aimed at encouraging the participation of children of all ages
from reception years upwards and are designed to cater for not only those who possess natural ability, but also for those who perhaps have
not enjoyed or had difficulty with physical activity and sessions.
All of the coaching takes place in a positive environment where children of all abilities are encouraged
to have fun whilst learning and developing both technically and individually.

The coaching is designed
to challenge and to instil into young people that there should be no limits
on their ambition and that with hard work and practice anything can become possible.
The use of music lends a great atmosphere to some sessions and can be used as a way to improve
general co-ordination and balance.
Over the past three years the sessions have
proved to
be both challenging and rewarding to the many children as well as teachers who
have become involved.
Programmes can be designed and delivered as a “one-off” or delivered as part of
a regular physical activities programme and run over a term or half term basis. Although best suited to the academic setting these sessions can
also be delivered as part of an after-schools activities programme.
ALTERNATIVE CURRICULUM / EDUCATIONAL PACKAGES
The Personal Development through Sport programme aims to offer
a vocational alternative to the traditional curriculum. Developed through work with Positive Futures, The Youth Engagement Service and senior
teaching staff the programme offers students the opportunity of using sport as a tool to learn about themselves, their personal strengths and
weaknesses and how they can develop skills which may help them succeed in school, in sport and in their everyday life.
Through
the Open College Network (TROCN) and ASDAN we have created a unique opportunity for children from 11 years plus to participate in the programme and
receive nationally recognised accreditation for their efforts. Delivered by appropriately qualified staff the award is based on a unit / modular
approach where work is presented to students as a series of individual units.
Each unit contains a number of tasks which clearly set out what
the student is to learn and the learning outcomes which must be achieved. Sessions are structured to include theory, practical activities, review and
preparation for the next lesson. Students are informally taught topics which link with the National Curriculum Key Stages and are given the option of
completing a portfolio of evidence which can be accredited at Level 1 or 2 through the Open College Network, and form credits toward the ASDAN Bronze and Silver Awards scheme.
FUNDRAISING
As part of our work with schools we recognise that many schools activities are governed by funding. To support and assist with this we have developed a range of sponsored activities
which allow schools to raise funds in a fun and enjoyable atmosphere. Our variety of activities includes an inflatable Speed Cage / Shoot Out, healthy lifestyles event or a carousel of sports activities.
SAQ (SPEED, AGILITY,
QUICKNESS) / CORE
STABILITY
SAQ training is a programme of progressive exercise used to support the development of fundamental motor skills, balance, co-ordination, and ultimately complete control of body
movement. Used to supplement our schools coaching programme SAQ is aimed at engaging children in vigorous, exhilarating and fun learning experiences by involving them in challenging activities that will test their movement
capabilities but provide achievable success.
The concept of core stability and muscle balance is increasingly being recognised as
fundamental in good training practice, both for the prevention of injury and to help improve physical performance.
An integral part of this is Swiss Ball training. This ball is a versatile tool for training and is currently being used at very high levels for training in a wide range of sports.
Core stability programmes can be tailored from very basic to very advanced, with the Swiss Ball being both challenging and fun to work with.
